Red River Energy Group will be launching a marketing study at Cannel City and anticipates two years to complete and determine the feasibility of the market. Our initial outreach is to determine whether the individual tract owners will participate in the mining reserve base.
The Cannel City coal basin has two sets of unique challenges and opportunity. The opportunity is the coal reserves are still owned by individual tract owners unlike many coal reserves that were severed from the surface ownership at the turn of the 1900 century. The first challenge is to bring each land owner together to form one entity to develop the coal reserves. The next challenge is to bring this coal to market given the past market for this coal seam disappeared in the 1920s.
If you want to be part of this new opportunity, we will begin the study upon your approval of a lease. The lease will be based on an initial 2 year period for the market study and an extension of 2 additional years for permitting. At the end of the market study, Red River Energy Group will make recommendations whether the reserve base is marketable and determine feasibility to permit an underground coal mine along with coal preparation facilities.
